Module 2: Core Consultation Skills

The focus of this workshop is to work with participants to enhance their skills for Initiating the conversation, Gathering information, Providing information and planning, Closing the conversation and Providing structure steps of the Calgary-Cambridge Guide.  

Staff attending this module are encouraged to complete Module 1 in advance of taking this workshop.

What will you get?

During this module you will:

• Describe a structure for the generic consultation and identify the preferred model;
• Describe and demonstrate the skills required for getting the consultation off to a good start, gathering information from and providing information to patients and their families;
• Reflect on and identify key skills you wish to practice to enhance your core consultation skills.
