Module 10.1: Guiding Parents to Prepare Children/Young People when Someone Close is Dying

4 hours | 5 CEUs/CPD

The focus of this workshop is to support staff in guiding parents and caregivers to prepare children and young people when someone close to them is dying. Participants will consider how to use clear, compassionate and age-appropriate communication to help families talk with children about serious illness, dying and death. The workshop explores how staff can support parents to plan what to say, respond to children’s emotions and questions, and involve children in ways that are sensitive to their age, needs and family context.

Staff attending this module are encouraged to complete Modules 1 and 2 in advance of taking this workshop.
